One model, all the way through

Build the cabinet from the actual boards—not sketches or parametric profiles. A side panel in the 3D view is the same part in the cutting plan, so there is no second drawing to keep in sync.

  1. Set the real sizes

    Choose the board material and enter the dimensions you intend to build.

  2. Put the cabinet together

    Snap boards to faces and edges. Measurements, contacts, and collisions stay visible while you work.

  3. Lay the parts on sheets

    Open the cutting plan when the model is ready. SnapSolid groups the boards by material and fits them onto stock sheets.

The boards come straight from the model. Choose the stock sheet, kerf, rotation, and grain settings, then export a layout you can verify before cutting.

Do I need CAD experience?

No. Start with real board sizes, then move, resize, and snap the parts into place directly in the 3D view. You do not need to build sketches or learn a traditional CAD workflow.

What makes snapping useful?

SnapSolid finds physical points, edges, faces, the floor, and the project grid while you move or resize. Parts meet exactly without typing every coordinate, while measurements and collision feedback remain visible.

Is the editor really free?

Yes. The full local editor, furniture tools, cutting plans, project backups, and STL export are free, with no account, trial, or feature tier. A future paid cloud option is planned for cross-device access, version history, sharing, and collaboration.

Where are my projects saved?

Autosave stores projects in this browser profile. Export a project as JSON for a backup or to move it to another browser. Clearing this site’s browser data also removes its local projects.

What does the cutting plan include?

It groups modeled boards by material and lays them out on stock sheets with adaptive P-numbered labels, stock grain direction, kerf, symmetric edge trim, rotation, and an optional advisory minimum part size. You can export SnapSolid data CSV, download a paginated PDF, or print the same report directly. Always verify the result and machine-specific safety limits before cutting.

Can I design more than cabinets?

Yes. You can build other board-based furniture and simple solid parts with boxes, solid or hollow cylinders, rectangular openings, and STL export. SnapSolid is not a general-purpose parametric CAD or CNC toolpath generator.

Does SnapSolid upload my project?

No. Project content stays in your browser unless you export it yourself. Google Analytics uses limited cookieless measurement until you allow analytics cookies; optional diagnostics stays off. Neither receives project names, dimensions, geometry, or exported content.
